Siskin Leads Provisional Irish 2000 Guineas Entries

Siskin | First Defence

Juddmonte's undefeated G1SW Siskin (First Defence) tops 15 contenders for Friday's G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh at the latest entry stage. Ger Lyons's charge won each of his four starts last term, culminating in the G1 Phoenix S., but was withdrawn at the start on his intended finale in the G1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket after proving unruly in the stalls.

Aidan O'Brien has seven colts in the mix at this stage, headed by Armory (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who won the G2 Futurity S. and G3 Tyros S. last term and was three times placed at the highest level. Vatican City (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), Royal Lytham (Fr) (Gleneagles {Ire}), 'TDN Rising Star' Lope Y Fernandes (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), Hong Kong (American Pharoah), Fort Myers (War Front) and 'TDN Rising Star' Monarch Of Egypt (American Pharoah) could also represent the Ballydoyle handler.

O'Brien's son Joseph has two to pick from in Choice Of Mine (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) and the unbeaten Crossfirehurricane (Kitten's Joy), who landed a Listed event on the all-weather in February.

Michael Halford is set to run Sinawann (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), who chased home Derby contender Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) on his final outing of last season.

Jessica Harrington's five-length maiden winner and 'TDN Rising Star' Free Solo (Ire) (Showcasing {GB}) also features, along with Andrew Slattery's Rebel Tale (Tale of the Cat) and the Jim Bolger-trained pair of Agitare (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Fiscal Rules (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}).
